Program Note

Winner of Best Dutch Family Film at the 2023 Cinekid Festival, this film follows Jippie, a boy with Down syndrome who experiences his first crush amid the joyful chaos of a big family wedding. Rather than focusing on disability, the film celebrates the universal flutter of a teenage crush and the warmth of family love, inviting audiences of all ages to laugh together and let go of their preconceptions along the way.

Director

Margien Rogaar

A graduate of the Dutch Film Academy, Margien Rogaar directs feature films and TV drama centered on the theme of growing up. Her notable credits include the Cannes Critics’ Week selection <BREATH>, features <MAYBE SWEDEN> and <BON VOYAGE>, and the Emmy-nominated <REMI, NOBODY’S BOY>. Her most recent works are the 2023 series <LAMPJE> and feature <JIPPIE NO MORE!>, which opened the Cinekid Festival.
