Dutch cinema does not wrap the world in comforting fantasies. Instead, it meets children where they are, presenting their reality with honesty, and trusting them to find moments of wonder on their own. 

In these stories, anyone can be the hero, regardless of how fast they move or how different they may seem. A boy with Down syndrome navigates his first, fumbling love. A girl grows up alongside a homeless father and finds her own way forward. A community of forest animals unites to protect the world they share. The children in these films do not let hardship or difference define them. Instead, they transform it into courage and change.

This is a place where disability is not a barrier, and where differences come together to shine. A real-world Neverland unfolds—one in which every child is free to flourish in their own way, at their own pace.
